Uri: The Surgical Strike producer Ronnie Screwvala donates Rs 1 cr to Army Women Welfare Association

Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies has donated Rs 1 crore to the Army Women Welfare Association on Army day on 15 January. Screwvala, who has produced  Uri: The Surgical Strike , said that making the donation was a humbling experience for the “massive contribution and sacrifice” of our country’s armed forces. Images from Twitter[/caption] In a interaction with Mid-Day, Screwvala said, “We take each day for granted, and yet, these brave women and men in the Army, Navy and Air Force stay committed and are resolute to protect us. They are the true inspiration for modern-day India, and we need to draw examples from the selfless lives that they lead, and the pride with which they carry themselves.” The report said that the donation would be used to aid the families of martyrs. Uri: The Surgical Strike , starring Vicky Kaushal, Paresh Rawal, Mohit Raina and Yami Gautam in lead roles, is a fictionalised account based on Indian Army’s retaliation to the 2016 Uri attack. The film crossed the Rs 50 crore-mark on Wednesday (16 January) after its release on 11 January.
