Upasana Konidela feels 'proud' to be in husband Ram Charan's 'shadow': 'When he is shining, it's great...'

Upasana Konidela, the better half of one of India’s biggest actors, Ram Charan, is not just a star wife. Despite the spotlight being on her husband, Upasana does not feel lost in the shadow and is a businesswoman working for her financial independence. Recently, she spoke to HT City, ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8. During the interaction, Upasana revealed how she manages to not get lost in the tag ‘star wife’.

Upasana is accredited for launching various initiatives and also took charge of the CSR wing of her family’s healthcare empire. When asked about how her life changed after she married Ram Charan, who hails from a completely different world, she quipped, “Previously, it was tough (being married to a star) I came from a different world. Now, I feel proud being his shadow. I learnt that there is so much beauty in being that person for him. He is that for me, and that support is really important. When you shine, there are so many things you are going through, and you need that one person to fall back on.”

Sharing her refreshing take on why she does not bother being a shadow, Upasana said, “They say behind every successful man there is a woman. When he is shining, it’s great to be the shadow, and when I shine, he is secure enough to be mine.”

As Upasana spoke to the media house, she was joined by her husband Ram Charan who, while talking about his wife, said that her identity is not limited to being a star wife and that she surpasses the celebrity status with many roles. The actor heaped praises on his wife saying, “Whether it’s with our family at home or contributing significantly to her philanthropic projects, she excels in all roles due to her unwavering commitment and deep-rooted family values. Upasana has beautifully carried forward her family legacy.”

He further added that Upasana is the force that keeps them together adding that he can never replicate what she does. The actor ended by saying, “She has truly carved her own incredible path.”

For those uninitiated, Ram Charan and Upasana Konidela got married in June 2012.
