UK government to watch Rajkumar Hirani and Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki? Here's what we know

Having the best of his career in 2023 with back-to-back hits at the box office, Shah Rukh Khan is now set for yet another achievement, that too on the global platform. The actor who was last seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki will reportedly take his film’s magic to the United Kingdom for a special screening in the upcoming days. Hirani, known for moving hearts with his engaging storyline, delivered yet another heart-touching tale revolving around the illegal immigration of people from the Donkey route. The film received a lot of praise following the film’s release.

Dunki screening in the UK?

As per the latest media reports, the UK Parliament has found the subject of the film relevant in the present time and has expressed its eagerness to watch the film.

“Since _Dunki_ narrates the story of illegal immigrants who take the Donkey route to enter the cross-borders, the UK government has found it to be a relevant subject in today’s time. The film has received tremendous love from the UK audience, as not only does it talk about an important issue but also highlights the dangerous Dunki route, and hence now the government is also keen to watch the film,” a News18 report states citing a source.

While a proper confirmation, however, from the makers’ end or the actor is yet to be received, it can come as a major milestone for the entire team especially for Hirani. Apart from that, this will also be a special moment for Indian cinema as only a very few films from the country have been screened at legislatures across the world.

About Dunki

Speaking about the film, Dunki features actor Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role of Hardy Singh who will be seen fighting against the odds to help his friend reach London through the illegal Donkey route.

While the film comes with a touch of humour in Hirani style, it also sheds light on the challenges that travellers face while going through the dangerous route.

Released on 21 December 21 in India, the film also had its share of criticism from audiences but still managed to hold its own. Despite the setbacks, Dunki made a domestic haul of around Rs 200 crore followed by more than Rs 400 crore globally.
