The latest season of Karan Johar’s most talked about celebrity chat show, Koffee with Karan has kickstarted and indeed made heads turn. The star couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh graced the beloved couch. From making some surprising revelations about their relationships to talking about their personal life, the couple really made the opening episode quite happening. However, the Jawan actress also faced massive trolling after opening about having an open relationship with Ranveer Singh in the initial days. While fans left no stone unturned to troll Deepika for her dating remarks, actor-turned-author Twinkle Khanna has now come out in her support, stating that ‘Deepika’s idea can save a lot of women." In her Times of India column, Twinkle also added that the actress became a subject of trolling because her “admission is baffling.” Twinkle Khanna defends Deepika Padukone amid trolling Stating that Deepika Padukone has managed to outrage uncles, aunties, and an entire lot of India’s not-so-eligible bachelors by confessing that “unlike her reel self, she did not swoon and fall at the feet of the first moustached suitor hanging around her”, Twinkle noted that the actress dated other men while also dating her future husband. “The trolling she has received because of her admission is baffling,” she wrote further adding that it influenced students at Banaras Hindu University who actually created a play where a girl student played Deepika and male students acted as her past boyfriends.
Twinkle while supporting Deepika’s take on dating said that her approach to finding a suitable partner is logical. Concluding the blog, the author stated that “Deepika’s idea of making an informed choice may save a lot of women from marrying dogs, and more commonly, frogs in princely robes.”
Notably, Twinkle Khanna’s reaction came days after comedian-actor Vir Das also spoke in support of Deepika Padukone .
Taking a stand for her, he took to X and shared a post reading, “Moment of silence for all the men who are upset that a Bollywood star way out of their league was casually dating for a while, and wasn’t as committed as their imaginary girlfriend is to them.”
