Ten things Dhanush's Velai Illa Pattadhaari trailer tells us

The trailer of Dhanush’s much awaited film Velai Illa Pattadhaari is out and in just about 12 hours, it’s had one lakh views. It looks like the Tamil hero is all set to have a blockbuster for his 25th film. Velai Illa Pattadhaari follows the well-trodden path of an underdog hero who begins as a loser but turns out to be a seriously cool dude. Dhanush’s character in the film begins as a young man who isn’t able to get a job. Feminists should turn the other way as he establishes his pathetic state of affairs by doing the things housewives and domestic help do. Then he falls in love with a rich young woman (Amala Paul) and proceeds to take on the evil capitalist system, having acquired a pair of glasses and a hard hat along the way. [caption id=“attachment_1576929” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]  Courtesy: Facebook[/caption] If the trailer is any indication, Dhanush nails the transition of a jobless loser to a go getter perfectly and he’s got some whistle-worthy dialogues as well. But what you really get from Velai Illa Pattadhaari’s trailer is a look at all the things that Dhanush can do. We made a list. 1. He can ride a kiddie bicycle even though he’s the size of a regular, adult male. 2. He can do flying kicks in both Western and Indian outfits. 3. He can use a jhaadu and generally do all the things that your bai does, including watching saas-bahu soap operas. 4. He can smoke and responsibly at that. If the amount of smoke coming out of his mouth is any indication, he doesn’t inhale so there’s less fear of cancer. 6. As a national award winning actor, he has a vast repertory of expressions. To illustrate this, in the middle of the trailer, we see a montage of ten different expressions. Most of them involve goggling eyes and eyebrow flexibility. 7. He can’t tell men from women. Either that or he is a closet bisexual. There’s no other explanation for how he manages to mistake a bearded gent in a hard hat as his lady love. 8. His coat is a weapon of mass destruction. Ok, so the mass is one human male, but that’s not a small amount of mass. 9. He walks in slow-mo, because he’s a stud. Obviously. 10. There is a rumour that Dhanush developed a six pack for this film. We cannot confirm this but we can confirm, on the basis of the one shirtless scene in the trailer, that Dhanush is distinctly malnourished. The film releases on 28 June, 2014.
