This week, the box-office sees a plethora of south Indian releases in all the major languages — Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam — vis-à-vis the  much-awaited Bollywood flick Tiger Zinda Hai starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.

Tiger Zinda Hai

What's it about: As per the trailer, it looks like another collaboration between Indian RAW agent Tiger (played by Khan) and Pakistani intelligence agent Zoya (played by Kaif) as they venture on a rescue mission. It is a sequel to the 2012 Kabir Khan directorial Ek Tha Tiger.

Who is in it: Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Paresh Rawal, Angad Bedi

Why it may work: The previous installment Ek Tha Tiger was a massive blockbuster. Be it the songs, the action sequences — the film was widely appreciated. Now, building on the expectations from the franchise and the chemistry between Khan and Kaif, there are a lot of hopes riding on Tiger Zinda Hai.

Tiger Zinda Hai is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.

Hello

What's it about: Hello is expected to be a content-driven film instead of a more common run-of-the-mill plot. The film is mainly a romantic action-drama and is touted to be Akhil Akkineni's big comeback film.

Who is in it: Akhil Akkineni, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Ramya Krishna

Why it may work: The pre-release business statistics say the Akhil-starrer could expect an impressive outing. The buzz around the film has been really good and Akhil's (the next Akkineni successor) performance in the film is expected to a major highlight.

Hello is directed by Vikram Kumar.

Masterpiece

What's it about: The film revolves around Edward Livingston (played by Mammootty), an English professor at the Travancore Maharaja College. He takes on the onus to restore order in a college that has been been divided into two groups which are always at loggerheads.

Who is in it: Mammootty, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Unni Mukundan, Maqbool Salman

Why it may work: Mammootty's action sequences in the film happen to be a major highlight of the film. Seeing the Malayalam actor as a strict teacher is also a point of major excitement among numerous cinegoers.

Masterpiece is directed by Ajai Vasudev.

Vimaanam

What's it about: Vimaanam's story revolves around the life of Saji Thomas, a differently-able man from Kerala. The film depicts how Saji, who has a speech and hearing impairment, fought all odds and built a lightweight aircraft from recycled materials without any external support, as mentioned in IMDB.

Who is in it: Prithviraj Sukumaran, Durga Krishna

Why it may work: Watching Prithviraj in a challenging role has created a major buzz among his many fans. The film will reportedly feature him in two different looks. It also has a major use of VFX as it travels through two time period. Prithviraj has pulled down considerably for the role and has also trained in flying courses.

Vimaanam is directed by Pradeep M Nair.
