When the first photos of a cute little tot dressed up in pink began to do the rounds on social media, no one could quite believe that this was indeed Adira, the daughter of Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra. However, the fact that the Instagram handle from which these photos were posted — ‘iamranimukerji’ — seemed genuine enough, with many private photos of the actress being shared on it in the past, so it was assumed that yes, these were indeed the photos of little Adira. Some glimmerings of doubt remained, because both Rani and Aditya are notoriously reclusive, so it seemed out-of-character for the actress to so openly share images of her baby, the nursery room the Chopras had set up for her, and little indulgences for the baby, like pink booties etc.
The photos went viral on social media, being shared and re-tweeted. But, it was soon established that the photos were in fact, fake. Rani does not operate the ‘iamranimukerji’ Instagram account. Aditya Chopra and Rani Mukerji issued a joint statement through the spokesperson for Yash Raj Films to the effect. “This is to inform you that Rani Mukerji is not on any social media platform and has never been. There are several fake accounts that keep cropping up we would like to request you to not pay any heed to them or the content they put up as it is all fake,” the statement from YRF read. Adira was born to Rani and Aditya in December 2015. The actress and the YRF honcho/filmmaker had wed in a private ceremony in 2014. They are believed to have been in a relationship for three years before tying the knot. Rani was the leading actress at YRF for several years, and that was how she met Aditya Chopra. With these photos of Adira now being deemed fake, we can assume that no real ones will be forthcoming from the Bollywood power couple in the near future.
