Alia Bhatt is back in Mumbai after a fulfilling vacation with husband Ranbir Kapoor in New York. The 30-year-old, who recently won the national award for her film Gangubai Kathiawadi, has now opened up about nepotism. In an interview with InStyle Australia, the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani star described how her mother Soni Razdan ‘struggled as an actor’ in the early days of her career.
Not just this, the actress who is known for several hits in a decade-long career also mentioned how she was initially naive about her privileges of stepping foot into the industry.
On nepotism
Alia Bhatt , who has experienced the same nepotism debate several times in the past, has made an intriguing revelation recently. Sharing her take on being a star kid, the actress told the news postal that ‘she was initially naive about her privileges.’
She further added that while she had always known her family’s presence in the film industry but things weren’t always easy for her too. Expressing her inclination towards movies, the Brahmastra star remarked, “But it’s not like my father ever spoke to me like, ‘Oh, the day you want to act, we will give you this movie’.” In fact, according to her, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has never even brought up the privilege part. “Never,” she continued.
On mother’s struggling years
Shedding light on her mother Soni Razdan , Alia Bhatt disclosed how despite being a successful director’s wife, the Raazi star’s journey faced many ups and downs.
On her mother’s struggle as an actor, Alia replied that not many are aware of the fact but the Mandi actress has always been upfront looking for more work as an actor. The Darlings star further described how ‘she doesn’t feel like she got her acting due and this despite being married to a director and producer’.
Talking about her acting career, the star kid added how her mother thought she would ‘find a way to enjoy that passion, even if I don’t make it big as an actor’.
Work Front
Alia Bhatt made her Bollywood debut in Karan Johar’s 2012 film Student of the Year alongside Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. The actress was also part of Karan Johar’s last hit venture Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
The 30-year-old Highway star also set her presence in Hollywood with Netflix-based Heart of Stone alongside Gal Gadot.
In a proud moment for the film fraternity, Alia Bhatt was showered the Best Actress honor at the 69th National Film Awards for her spectacular work in Gangubai Kathiawadi.
