The Sachin Tendulkar-Lata Mangeshkar video you must see (it's not Tanmay Bhat's)
Comedian Utsav Chakraborty created a funny video that explains the Tanmay Bhat Sachin-Lata Snapchat joke
Amid all the Tanmay Bhat-Sachin Tendulkar-Lata Mangeshkar stories, was one that we just had to share!
Comedian Utsav Chakraborty presented his perspective on the joke row with a funny Snapchat video where he face-swapped with Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar to actually explain what a joke is.
“It is weird that people are getting into trouble for impersonating a celebrity as though our country has no real problems,” Utsav-as-Lata says, before pondering, “The whole idea of not making fun of celebrities, where did it come from?”
He then actually deconstructs what a joke is — something that surprises you, involving something a person may not do or say in real life (hence, a parody) or when it offers something unexpected — like Lata Mangeshkar talking about quantum physics.
Utsav-Lata then breaks into a very tuneful rendition of a song that goes, “Oh Schroedingerrrrr…”
For those who don’t see it as a joke, Utsav-as-Lata offers two reasons: Either they’re used to a very high level of humour (“you know, like Tarak Mehta and Bollywood”) or thy just didn’t like the joke.
Utsav ends, however, on a serious note — “What’s the point of comedy if not to equalise? A person who’s down and out doesn’t need to be brought down. But a person who’s been up there probably doesn’t mind.”
