Remember Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Momina Mustehsan’s cover of ‘Afreen Afreen’?
Fans of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s uncle, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan were not so pleased. The problem seemed to be Momina Mustehsan, and how her looks were more important than her voice. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has taken a crack at recreating his famous uncle’s songs again; this time it is ‘Halka Halka’.
The plot has Ayushmann Khurrana and Amy Jackson playing a newly married couple. Ayushmann Khurrana finds a portal that takes him into the past, where Amy Jackson’s grandmother is the queen of the land and her husband is an old king. The video seems carelessly directed and the story seems like almost an afterthought. The duo’s only job seems to be is two do a good job being eye candy in an intensely worded song, which they obviously succeed at. Their on-screen chemistry is almost nil.
But the music is a win. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan manages to make the song completely different from the original. The pace is slower, more intense. The music is set to a slower pace and has more distinct guitar riff that was completely absent in the original track.
The song has been shot in Georgia and has been directed by Pradeep Sarkar. The slightly changed lyrics have been composed by Rashmi Virag while credits for composing the recent rendition go to Abhijit Vaghani. Here’s a look at the video:
