The Legend of Michael Mishra, Budhia Singh, Chauthi Koot: Know this week's releases

This Friday, 5 August, will go down in history as the only day to have close to seven Hindi film releases simultaneously. Three of those are, politely speaking, niche and restricted to local markets (Purab Ki Azaz, Moods of Crime and Hai Apna Dil Tog Awara). However, films such as The Legend of Michael Mishra, Budhia Singh, Chauthi Koot and Fever are also releasing. If you think you’re spoilt for choice this friday, here’s some additional information about these films to help you make a decision on what to watch: Chauthi Koot We’re just going to say this. If you have to pick a film to watch this Friday, pick Gurvinder Singh’s Chauthi Koot. This National Award winning film graphs the communal tension between Hindus and Sikhs during 1984’s Operation Blue Star. A movie that could have been fiercely political, spends much more time exploring the affect of fear on humanity in the wake of national terror. These are personal stories of families that Singh captures in Chauthi Koot. The film has had its share of troubles. Singh had spoken up this year during the National Awards about how regional films had been given as miss in favour of more commercial films. Inspite of travelling through festivals abroad, Chauthi Koot has struggled to get an Indian release. You deserve to watch this film in theatres. Watch the trailer here:

The Legend of Michael Mishra If you loved the tone and flavour of Khosla Ka Ghosla, The Legend of Michael Mishra will remind you of the iconic Dibakar Banerjee film. The reason for that is because it stars Boman Irani, Arshad Warsi, Aditi Rao Hydari and Boman’s son Kayoze Irani. In the film, Warsi plays a kidnapping specialist, who falls in love with the girl next door (Hydari) and attempts to mend his ways in order to win the girl of his dreams. While the premise of the film is done to death, what makes it interesting is performances by Arshad, Boman Irani. Watch the trailer here:

Budhia Singh — Born to Run It’s the season (or let’s say it has been multiple seasons) of biopics, and Manoj Bajpayee starrer Budhia Singh — Born to Run graphs the life of the world’s youngest marathon runner, who finished around 48 marathons when he was just 5 years old. Manjoy Bajpayee plays Budhia Singh’s coach in the film, and the film scopes Budhia’s relationship with his coach. This film will give you major Iqbal nostalgia. Watch the trailer here:

Fever Perhaps the most sensationalist film on this list is Fever which stars Rajeev Khandelwal, Gauhar Khan, Gemma Atkinson and Caterina Murino (of Casino Royale fame). The reason for that is the fact that Fever has grabbed more headlines for Gauhar Khan’s kiss, or Gemma Atkinson’s “nude photoshoot”. The film, however, is a suspense thriller about a contract killer who loses his identity. The only way he can put things into place and understand a crime he has supposedly committed, is by consulting a bunch of people along the way. Watch the trailer here:
