Kerala High Court has halted the release after a petition and it has observed the film depicts the state in wrong light. The observation over the content of the film was done by Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas.

Shah observed the plea to halt the film’s release is ‘premature, misconceived and not maintainable’.’ The filmmaker’s affidavit says ‘The supervisory jurisdiction of this court does not extend to substituting its own assessment of a film’s content for the expert judgment of the certifying authority. The said film is slated to release in over 1,800 theatres across India as well as overseas.’

The makers of   The Kerala Story 2 – Goes Beyond  have issued an official clarification, firmly denying reports suggesting that the film’s teaser was removed following court intervention. Production house Sunshine Pictures termed the circulating claims as “completely false, baseless, and misleading,” urging all to refrain from spreading unverified information.

The statement comes in response to reports that surfaced after the Kerala High Court agreed to watch the film ahead of its scheduled release, sparking speculation about possible restrictions.

In a detailed statement, Sunshine Pictures clarified that the matter is currently sub judice and no court has passed any order directing the removal of any promotional content.
