The Innocents teaser: Netflix's new teen drama series feels like a dark, supernatural Romeo and Juliet
In Netflix's new teen supernatural drama The Innocents, “What you see is not what you see.”
Netflix has released a teaser trailer for a new British teen supernatural drama, The Innocents. The series will star Guy Pearce (Memento), Sorcha Groundsell (Clique) and Percelle Ascott (Wizard vs. Aliens).
The 69-second teaser doesn't reveal much more than the faces of characters embedded in between shattered glass and fog with the tagline, “What you see is not what you see.”
The Innocents will explore what happens when teenagers Harry (Ascott) and June (Groundsell) run away from their repressive family lives to be together. Pearce will play a character named Halvorson on the show.
The official synopsis reads: The Innocents revolves around teenagers Harry (Ascott) and June (Groundsell). When the pair run away from their repressive family lives to be together, they are thrown into an extraordinary journey of self-discovery that derails their innocent dream. Secrets kept from them by their respective parents test their love to breaking point, and the extraordinary gift they possess unleashes powerful forces intent on dividing them forever.
From the looks of it, The Innocents seems like a dark, contemporary version of Romeo and Juliet. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the series is created and written by Hania Elkington and Simon Duric.
