The Emoji Movie: Animated film gets zero percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes

The highly anticipated (not) Emoji Movie released on 28 July and reviewers all around the world are just really upset that it is their job to watch the movie and talk about it. With TJ Miller lending his voice to Gene the ‘Meh’ emoji and Patrick Stewart as the poop emoji, the movie has managed to fall flat on everyone. Image from Twitter.[/caption] Other celebrities that have voiced what is being considered an even bigger disaster than the Angry Birds movie are Christina Aguilera, Anna Faris, James Corden and Maya Rudolph. The movie has received the grand total of zero percent ratings on the popular movie rating site Rotten Tomatoes, a feat which is almost unheard of — and that is really all that one needs to know about this movie (if acclaimed and world renowned film critics are to be believed). Amidst a gazillion (#SorryNotSorry for the exaggeration) bad reviews of this cinematic piece of art, we have rounded up the most scathing (and secretly hilarious) ones to give you a view of just what The Emoji Movie entails and why one should watch it (or run far away from any theater that is screening it) Charles Bramesco from The Guardian says “A viewer leaves The Emoji Movie a colder person, not only angry at the film for being unconscionably bad, but resentful of it for making them feel angry.” Johnny Oleksinski of the  The New York Post says “Please restore my eyes to their factory settings. They have seen The Emoji Movie, a new exercise in soulless branding, aimed primarily at little kids.” Lindsey Bahr from the  Associated Press says “There are five stages of grief in preparing to watch The Emoji Movie. The first is denial that this actually exists. The fifth is acceptance that, yes, of course that’s where we’re headed so let’s pull up a seat and make the most of it.” The Emoji Movie is currently giving stiff competition to Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk at the domestic USA box office with the former garnering around $25 million and Nolan’s masterpiece at around $28 million. Dunkirk is in its second week after release, while this is The Emoji Movie’s opening week. The Emoji Movie has been directed and co-written by Tony Leondis.
