Thank you Ranbir and Anushka, for finally showing us some chemistry in Bombay Velvet's Behroopia

For fans of Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Anurag Kashyap, there’s good news: Bombay Velvet’s promotions are following an upward graph. When the first trailer came out, we couldn't make head or tail of what was going on . Then came the second trailer and the first set of songs, which enlightened us somewhat. With the video of every song, we seem to be getting closer to deciphering the film. Now we know that a set of film negatives lies at the heart of Bombay Velvet’s plot. We’ve also got some sense of the mood of the film, with songs like “ _Fifi_ ” setting the the tone with old-school jazz melodies. “ _Naak Pe Gussa_ ” and “Mohabbat Buri Beemari” told us a little bit more about the world of Sharma’s Rosie Norohna, a jazz singer in ’60s’ in Bombay. Then there is “Sylvia”, which Anurag Kashyap reveals comes at a crucial point in the film, and borrows its look and feel from the infamous Nanavati case from 1959. [caption id=“attachment_2234926” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Behroopia](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Behroopia1.jpg) Screen grab from Behroopia.[/caption] The most recent teaser is “Behroopia”, which allows to look closer into Johnny (Kapoor) and Rosie’s relationship. If you’re one of those who wondered how and why they fell in love and why Johnny would risk everything to be with Rosie, “Behroopia” has answers for you. The song begins with the sound of rain, setting a melancholic, romantic mood. Sung by Mohit Chauhan and Neeti Mohan, “Behroopia” is, so far, the least jazzy of the Bombay Velvet soundtrack and most similar to contemporary Bollywood tunes. Its video gives us a quick look at how Johnny and Rosie’s relationship began — they meet in the lobby of the Bombay Velvet, a bar in Bombay where Rosie has come to audition for the singer’s job. She lands it and becomes both famous and glamorous, while Johnny goes from getting battered in a fighting cage to wearing suits and cravats. What remains unchanged is their attraction. When Mohit croons ‘Behroopia, yeh dil tune bas mein kiya (Shape-shifter, you’ve stolen my heart)’, Johnny shyly smiles at Rosie, leaving us to guess what he’s thinking (and there’s no doubt they’re all naughty thoughts). In contrast to all the violence and intrigue that’s present in the other teasers, in “Behroopia” Johnny and Rosie seem to be without their facades. Both Kapoor and Sharma get those emotions bang on. From their urgency to sink into a kiss in the green room to Johnny watching Rosie take the stage with pride, there’s palpable chemistry between the actors and a certain tenderness to their love, which in turn is reflected in the melodious song. “Behroopia” is a tantalising glimpse into Bombay Velvet’s softer side and this song has us itching to see more of Johnny and Rosie’s romance.
