Thackeray: Richa Chadha calls her Gangs of Wasseypur co-star Nawazuddin Siddiqui 'bipolar' post trailer release

Richa Chadha slammed Nawazuddin Siddiqui for his role in Thackeray. Referencing his role in Gangs of Wasseypur, she tweeted, “Our Faisal turned out bipolar!”

Within hours of Thackeray’s trailer’s release, the Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer received criticism from social media users as well as members of the film fraternity for glorifying hate speech against certain communities. Previously, Tamil and Telugu actor Siddhart h had also shared his opinion of the trailer on Twitter. He slammed the film for a dialogue spoken by Nawazuddin in a recreation of Bal Thackeray’s speech. Siddharth wrote that the film romanticised the political leader for his hateful stance against the South Indian community and promoted propaganda.

Similarly, prior to Thackeray’s trailer launch, Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC)  objected  to three dialogues in the film. While one alluded to a reference to South Indians in the film, the other is related to Babri Masjid. Thackeray, also stars Amrita Rao as Balasaheb’s wife Meenatai. Directed by Abhijit Panse, the film is slated to hit the screens on 23 January, 2019
