“Halaat dekhi hai apni? Adrak ho gaya hai yeh aadmi, kaahin se bhi badh raha hai (Have you looked at yourself? You have turned into ginger, growing on all sides).” Yes people, you can thank Kangana Ranaut profusely for the presenting to you a sure-fire way to send the lazy boyfriend/girlfriend running to the gym right now and loose those extra kilos. However, if you are stuck with a particularly stubborn specimen of human kind, Kangana Ranaut in the trailer of Tanu weds Manu 2 will at least brighten up your mood with a generous dose of humour. [caption id=“attachment_2196140” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Kangana Ranaut as Kusum in Tanu Weds Manu 2.[/caption] Tanu Wed Manu 2, unlike Bollywood sequels which just share their names with the preceding films, takes off from where Tanu Weds Manu left. Tanu (Kangana Ranaut) and Manu (Madhavan) have been married for a while and from the looks of it, all’s not well. Manu is mulling filing for divorce and Tanu is upset with her husband over several things - one them being putting on weight. Manu, on his part, is unapologetic and quips, “So was I Hrithik Roshan before marriage?” The trailer immediately cuts to another Kangana, in cropped hair, track pants and tee. who Manu is seen following, wide-eyed with admiration. However, this is not Tanu, but Kusum, who says she is national-level athlete from Haryana. Manu seems have to have fallen in love with Kusum and wants to marry her but it’s not clear if he is really over Tanu. Then, Tanu’s suitor from the earlier film, Raj Awasthy (Jimmy Shergill reminding the world what a dish he can be) surfaces in the film. The trailer should come as a breath of fresh air for Bollywood fans who were last subjected to Ek Paheli Leela last weekend. Kangana, playing Tanu and Kusum, has you gobsmacked. From the rustic Haryanvi accent and mannerisms of a tomboy to the excesses of a drama queen, she nails both the characters and how! The film also seems to have a title track which can match the earlier one’s sadi galli in spunk and jest. It’s the kind of trailer that makes you want to watch the film right away. The flipside is, if Kangana’s film turns out to be disappointing, it will be a huge one! Watch the trailer here.
