Shashank Khaitan's romantic comedy Badrinath Ki Dulhania is releasing days before Holi, and rightly so. Whatever we have seen of the film so far, from its fun-filled trailer to the foot-tapping title song, the entire palette of colours have just been splashed onto the screen by the filmmaker.

Amidst all the hues and tints, the fans also witnessed glimpses of the lead couple, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, dancing on a rehashed version of the popular song 'Tamma Tamma' from the 1990 film Thanedar. While the song is scheduled to release on 11 February, the makers have posted a behind-the-scenes video to gain momentum.

This video features Alia and Varun rehearsing the hook step of the original 'Tamma Tamma' song but not being able to crack it after repeated attempts. Then, much to the awe of Alia, Madhuri Dixit enters the frame and teaches the hook step to the two stars until Alia finally gets it right.

This serves as a wise marketing move to hype up the impending release of the song on Saturday. Dixit has judged the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa with the producer of the film, Karan Johar. She also did an item song, 'Ghaghra', for his 2013 production, Ayan Mukerji's romantic comedy Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

As Varun and Alia step into the dancing shoes of Sanjay Dutt and Dixit, they are well aware of the legacy they are paying a tribute to through the song. Dixit has collaborated with Varun's father, filmmaker David Dhawan, in three films - Yaarana in 1995, Gharwali Baharwali in 1998 and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan in 1998. Similarly, she has shared the screen space with Alia's elder sister Pooja in Sachin Pilgaonkar's 1992 film Prem Deewane.

As far as Dutt is concerned, he has collaborated with David in nearly a dozen films, the last one being the 2011 comedy Rascals. He even featured in Varun's brother Rohit Dhawan's directorial debut Desi Boyz that released in the same year.

Badrinath Ki Dulhania is the sequel to Khaitan's 2014 directorial debut Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. Produced by Dharma Productions, it stars Gauhar Khan and Girish Karnad. It is slated to release on 10 March.
