What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of Bappi Lahiri – bling and disco? Now, add American rappers Snoop Dogg and Akon to that equation. Bappi da, who can be credited for single-handedly spreading the ‘disco-fever’ in Bollywood during the 80s, reportedly will be tying up with Snoop Dogg and Akon to spread the ‘fever’ internationally. Bappi da as saying, “I have already worked with one of the top most rappers of America, MC Hammer on a song called ‘Will to Live’ . Now latest is with American rapper Snoop Dogg, and American rapper and songwriter Akon will be singing with me. So, I am trying to get melody in rap.” Both Akon and Snoop Dogg have earlier tied up with India composers. Akon’s Chammak Challo from the film Ra.One, in collaboration with Vishal-Shekhar, had become a raging hit when the film released in 2011. Snoop Dogg, meanwhile, had made his debut in Indian cinema acting and singing alongside Akshaya Kumar in the title track of Singh is King.
