Sushmita Sen reveals what happened once in Mexico after she became Miss Universe: 'Felt out of place and...'

Bollywood star Sushmita Sen was crowned Miss Universe back in 1994 and speaking to Curly Tales recently, narrated an incident when she traveled to Mexico and what happened with her next. Sen said, " After winning it, they sent me to Mexico city to this place. I’m 18 years old, I barely speak English. I’m getting it together at that point and Barbara, my travel manager sitting to my right and thereafter beyond Barbara are all men."

She added, “I’m starving, I’m smiling at my travel manager saying ‘I’m very hungry’. Then I bend over like ‘I’m very hungry Barbara.’ She’s like, ‘So are they and you’re the chief guest, you need to start.”

On feeling out of place

I felt very out of place, and I don’t want to feel that again. One of the things that I learnt was ‘Pet bhar ke kha ke jaao ghar se, taki waha pe jaake khana khane ki utsukta nahi hogi (Eat well at home and then go for an official dinner, so that you won’t feel the urge to eat there).’ Then you can elegantly say, ‘No more, thank you’, and they will assume you follow a strict diet.

Sushmita Sen on marriage plans with beau Rohman Shawl

There were reports of reconciliation and marriage plans after the two had a breakup. But during an interview with Film Companion, the actor denied all the wedding rumours about her with Rohman Shawl and said that she “doesn’t give a damn about it.” The Taali actress, who is currently promoting the third season of the web series Aarya, also said that for her friendship and freedom are very important.

While speaking to the entertainment news portal,  Sushmita Sen  shared her perspective on marriage. She said, “I know the whole world thinks I should give a damn about, at this stage at least, settling down. But I don’t give a damn about it. Important to mention it’s only because I love and respect the institution of marriage. I do, very much.”
