Sushmita Sen recalls dancing with Salman Khan in 'Chunari Chunari' song: 'He wore layers and I was freezing in lehenga'

One of the most popular romantic comedies from the ’90s, David Dhawan’s Biwi No.1 was a big hit and was also a commercial success at the Indian box office. Featuring actors like Salman Khan (Prem), Karisma Kapoor (Pooja), and Sushmita Sen (Rupali) in the lead roles, the film revolves around the story of a couple whose happy married life takes a different turn after the husband gets into an extramarital affair with an aspiring model. While Salman Khan and Karisma Kapoor gave outstanding performances as Prem and Pooja, Sushmita Sen as Rupali also impressed audiences with her charming presence. While the film still enjoys a strong fan base, how can one forget the peppy dance number ‘Chunari Chunari’ picturised on Salman and Sushmita? The music of the song along with its lyrics is quite catchy and still manages to bring people to the dance floor. In a recent interview, Sushmita Sen was seen sharing an interesting anecdote while shooting the song. She recalled getting frozen due to the cold in the US while also mentioning that Salman was packed up in warm clothes. ‘I was freezing and he was in layers’ In an interview with Pinkvilla, Sushmita said, “We were freezing in the cold there. In that song, if you notice now, Salman is wearing a polo neck and a blazer. In another part, he’s wearing a yellow suit with inners inside. Yours truly is, in lehenga choli. And it’s freezing.” The _Aarya_ actress while recalling her reaction after hearing the song for the first time also mentioned that she wasn’t very sure of it. “When David brought the song to me, I was like ‘What is this song?’ Those were the days when I was very ladylike. I was like ‘What is this?’ and David is like ‘This is a hit song. What else?’ I asked Salman ‘You think that’s a hit song’ So Salman said ‘Come, we will show you’.” Noting that the song eventually turned out to be a big hit, Sushmita shared that after the song came out, it was played at every wedding and is still being played at almost every wedding. “David and Salman knew what they were doing and that song remains very special,” she concluded.
