Suriya’s next film with Saala Khadoos director likely to go on floors in September; G.V Prakash Kumar to score music
Suriya’s long rumoured project with director Sudha Kongara, who made R. Madhavan starrer Saala Khadoos, has been confirmed and it’s expected to go on the floors towards the end of this year.
Basking in the success of his latest release Thaana Serntha Kootam, Suriya is currently shooting for filmmaker Selvaraghavan’s yet-untitled project at breakneck speed. The film marks the Singam star’s maiden collaboration with Selvaraghavan, known for films such as Kadhal Kondein and Pudhupettai. It is already confirmed that Suriya will next join hands with cinematographer-turned-filmmaker KV Anand, with whom he has already worked in Ayan and Maattrraan.
The latest update is that Suriya’s long rumoured project with director Sudha Kongara, who made R. Madhavan starrer Saala Khadoos, has been confirmed and it’s expected to go on the floors towards the end of this year.
“The rumours about the project have been doing the rounds for over a year. After months of discussions, the project has been finally locked. G.V Prakash Kumar has been roped in to compose music. The team is currently busy finalising the rest of the cast and crew. If everything goes as planned, the project should start rolling from September or November,” a source told Firstpost, and added that the project will be bankrolled by Suriya’s home banner 2D Entertainment, which has produced films such as 36 Vayadhinile and Pasanga 2.
It should be noted that while promoting Thaana Serntha Kootam, Suriya confirmed to be in talks with Sudha Kongara, who made heads turn with the hard-hitting boxing drama Saala Khadoos, which explored the mentor-mentee relationship in a beautiful fashion. The film was also released in Tamil as Irudhi Suttru and Madhavan’s performance in the film fetched him many awards besides unanimous praise from audiences as well critics.
The genre of Sudha’s project with Suriya is yet unknown and it’ll be interesting to see what’s in store for the audiences.
It’s going to be a busy year for Suriya as he might be shooting for three projects. His project with KV Anand is likely to kick-off this summer. The team is said to be in talks with megastar Amitabh Bachchan to play a key role in the film. It’s worth mentioning that Anand worked as cinematographer on Big B’s 2004 film Khakee. Suriya also has projects in the pipeline with Singam franchise director Hari and Vikram Kumar, who made the path breaking science-fiction action thriller 24.
Suriya recently clarified that his film with Hari won’t be another part in the Singam franchise and that they’re planning to something fresh.
