One can say that Rajinikanth managed to live up to all the jokes ever made about him. In less than 24 hours of joining the micro blogging site, the superstar not only gathered more than one lakh and nineteen thousand followers but also apparently managed to post 5,457 tweets.
While the followers are actually his fans, it seems the 6,032 tweets that his profile shows weren’t actually posted by him.
According to a report in CNN IBN , there seems to have been a technical error due to which the superstar’s profile showed that his tweet count went from one to 1400 in a short while.
Everyone who followed him was spammed by an auto generated message. However, the glitch was later fixed and although his tweet-counter says that he has 5,457 tweets at the time the copy was being filed, his feed just shows one tweet.
Fluence, an offshoot of CA Media Digital, is responsible for handling Rajinikath’s social media debut. However, they seemed to have faltered on the front of making it glitch-free. One, however, has to say here that the ‘glitch’ only added to the buzz around his Twitter debut, which turned out to be a massive hit.
Twitter has also left no stone upturned to make Rajinikanth feel welcome. Twitter’s Market Director Rishi Jaitly welcomed the superstar and said, “This is truly an ‘only-on-Twitter’ moment as Superstar Rajinikanth’s debut on Twitter also marks his debut in the digital space more generally. We welcome Rajinikanth to Twitter, are happy to support his launch on the platform and look forward to watching him use our mobile service to engage in live, public conversations with fans and other icons around the world.”
Not only this, Twitter has put up a banner welcoming the superstar on its homepage.
