The ugly battle over Sunjay Kapur’s ₹30,000-crore estate between his mother Rani Kapur, ex-wife Karisma Kapoor and children Kiaan and Samaira and Priya Kapur (Sunjay’s wife) continues to grab headlines with its new developments.
Recently, Rani and Karisma claimed that the family trust (RK Family Trust) - named after Rani Kapur - and his personal assets have been “usurped” by Priya Kapur.
The actress’ kids, Samaira (20) and Kiaan (15), have claimed through a suit that the will which surfaced after their father’s death was allegedly forged by their stepmother, Priya.
In a statement, the late businessman’s mother was quoted saying, “Today, I have nothing. I have written at least 15 emails asking about the will, what are the documents? Not a word has been shared. I have been told that my emails have been compromised. There is something incredibly unholy. ₹10,000 crore worth of assets should have been mine.”
She added, “I am 80 years old. Mother, her vested interest goes into trust. All gone. I am nowhere. Ms Sachdeva (Priya) comes in, and within three months of her getting married, everything goes? My son today leaves me with not a roof on my head.”
The assests are currently controlled by Priya while Kiaan and Samaira have no access to them. Senior advocate Rajiv Nayar, representing Priya Kapur, shared that the plaintiffs are already trust beneficiaries and were given ₹1,900 crore just days before filing the case. “It’s not as if these people are left on the streets. I am a widow with a six-year-old child. For 15 years, they were nowhere to be seen,” he said.
As of June 2025, the Delhi High Court has ordered Priya to list all movable and immovable assets. The next hearing of the court is on 9th October.
Amid this case, Rani Kapur’s lawyer, Vaibhav Gaggar told ANI, “This fight is really more between Karisma Kapoor and Priya Sachdev — whether there is a will or there is no will etc. Rani Kapur does get impacted by it but she will file a response and you will know her stand.”
