Sunidhi Chauhan makes her acting debut with the short 'Playing Priya'
Director Arif Ali, whose first film Lekar Hum Deewana Dil (2014) starred Armaan Jain and Deeksha Seth, has ventured into the art of short films for the web with Playing Priya.
But this 5 minute short is nothing but showcasing playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan’s camera friendliness. Chauhan has lent her voice for the animated films Rio and Sons of Ram previously and shot the film in less than a day.
Made for the Humaramovie YouTube channel, the story stars Chauhan as a housewife who is left to her own devices after a long time.
The story starts off with Priya (Chuahan) seeing off her husband (Mukul Chadda) and her two squabbling kids. Priya starts prancing around the house, tasting the freedom of being alone at last.
There’s a twist in the end of the movie when her husband comes back to the room. The story has exceptionally little dialogue and a plot that can barely hold it together. But it does a good job in establishing Chauhan’s acting prowess. Maybe next time we will see her in a more developed role?
