Touted as 2019’s most-awaited sequel, Student of the Year 2 opened last Friday to mostly negative reviews. The Punit Malhotra directorial features Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria in the lead roles. Actor Aditya Seal plays the antagonist in the high school romance. In a recent interview with Times Now, Aditya addressed questions about the criticism SOTY2 is facing to its unrealistic plot. “That is exactly the section of society who will watch Avengers and love it and believe that superheroes exist, but they will give us flak for it.” The actor continued justifying his statement by saying, “This is a fantasy. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of a school like this, where you have such amazing-looking people and the school is this good? We are just trying to create a world for people where they can just watch it and be like, ‘Oh, I wish I was a part of this!’ When I watch Avengers, I want to be a part of it. I want to be Tony Stark/Iron Man. The same way, we are trying to create a world for them,” Aditya said. Avengers: Endgame , which released worldwide on 26 April, is breaking all possible records at the box office. The MCU finale beat Titanic to become the second-highest grossing film ever , only second to James Cameron’s Avatar. Twitter was prompt to react to Aditya’s (blasphemous?) statement. Check out some of the funny ones:
Still trying to figure out the number of logical leaps #Soty2 actor #AdityaSeal took to compare it with #Endgame . I mean, "bhai dimaag khokla hai kya ekdum?"

Forget speaking about Avengers, you shouldn't even think about the movie! #SOTY2orwhatever pic.twitter.com/bDakgRtjlt
I don't know which is more pathethic #SOTY2 or this statement by @AdityaSeal_ comparing the film with avengers! Ugh.. pic.twitter.com/CprvXif6oH

The point is not about both movies being based in make-believe worlds. Had #SOTY2 had script and performances on par with #AvengersEndgame ,audiences would have loved the former too. @AdityaSeal_ https://t.co/KEST4hj1CC
