Ace Tamil director Mani Ratnam has released the first teaser of his closely guarded new under-production movie Kadal (the sea). The 30-second trailer features the hero sailing on a cattamran with the snatch of a song by AR Rahman and the roaring sea as the background. Shot in the south-eastern cost of Tamil Nadu, Andaman islands and different parts of the Kerala, the movie apparently tells a love-story with the lives of the poor fisherfolk in Rameshwaram in the backdrop. The director had managed a casting coup of sorts, when he brought together the children of a hit on-screen romantic pair of the 1980s to play the lead roles. Rahman had unveiled the title song of the movie last month and had promised the second song on 10 December.
