Sridevi passes away: Baahubali, Darr and even Jurassic Park — famous roles veteran actress rejected
On rejecting Darr, Sridevi had said, 'If I was playing Shah Rukh Khan’s role then of course, I would have loved to do it.'
Sridevi was not only the epitome of Indian beauty but enthralled her fans for fifty long years with her thorough unmatched talent. Now that she is no more, it makes us feel nostalgic taking a look back at her journey and reminiscing her ruling days. Hailed as the first female superstar of Bollywood, Sridevi did act like one and even rejected Steven Spielberg.
This might come as an unknown fact to the GenNext but Sridevi did say no to Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park in 1993. It was the peak of her career and she made tough choices. Jurassic Park was one film among the many that were rejected by the actress during that time. It is also reported that how and why she rejected Darr, the mega-hit of Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla.
While she felt the role being offered to her in Jurassic Park was too generic, she knew the female lead opposite SRK in Darr had nothing new to offer that she would feel adventurous about.
“After Chandni and Lamhe, I feel Darr would have been an ordinary character for me. If I’m playing Shah Rukh Khan’s role then of course, I would have loved to do it. The character Juhi played was new for her and so it was good for her. But for me, it was something I had done many times before," DNA quoted her as saying.
Sridevi also famously turned down the role of Shivakami in the Baahubali franchise that director SS Rajamouli offered to her before it eventually went to Ramya Krishnan.
