Splitsvilla 7 wrap: The health violations in this episode are excessive

The hunt for love takes a rather gross turn in this week’s episode of Splitsvilla 7. If you are sticky about where your food and juices, the health food violations in this episode are going to leave your stomach rather queasy.

The hunt for love takes a rather gross turn in this week’s episode of Splitsvilla 7. Yes, it’s worse than drawing blood and no, this isn’t a wrap-up for the faint-hearted. If you are picky about where your food and juices come from, the health food violations in this episode are going to leave your stomach feeling rather queasy.

In this episode, three girls fought to be “Queen” in this strange love-verse. What’s the deciding factor? The girls have to get into a bowl of fruits and squish them together to get the juice, using their a**es. Sunny Leone explained all this by shaking her own hips, naturally. Usually, we’d agree that it isn’t worth it to waste a feminist rant over Splitsvilla, but to first reduce women to their butts and then to somewhat literally objectify them into fruit juicers — that’s just puke-worthy.

But the task didn’t stop at getting the juice out. The girls then have to convince one of the guys to drink said juice. Naturally the boys aren’t too excited about this and for once, who can blame them? No amount of love, even if it is for TV ratings, is worth this risk. Plus, every time a boy throws up or spills the juice, the girls have to get back in the bowl and squish more.

Of course, there’s the usual strategising, followed by comments from the contestants that don’t make any sense. For instance, “This was a total fundo task,” said one male contestant. How was it fundo — and for that matter, just what is this fundo? — we don’t know.

More disturbingly, the girl who was the winner of this gross task proclaimed, “Tum apni ass ke balbute pe, your are showing how much strength you have. I’m proud of myself.” Note, all of this was said with a pretty smug expression.

Also, we couldn’t help but notice that the dude who was Mr India is always seen without wearing a shirt. Obviously, he thinks that he can get by thanks to his abs.

In the second half of the episode, Sunny got the boys to perform for the girls (presumably, this is the prize they get for being objectified). When asked to perform a romantic scene, Ayaz Ahmed stared at a girl like a stalker and that, apparently, qualified as romance. Feminists, contain your outrage because the girl that was being ogled at responded with a giggle and “Full marks.” As far as we’re concerned, this was even more puke worthy than the fruit squishing.

Shravan was asked to dress as a woman and walk around. Why? We’re not sure. Cross-dressing seems to have become the new big thing in Indian tv and cinema. Maybe there’s a deeply subtle comment here from the entertainment business on what it thinks of Section 377. Finally one guy was made to re-enact Ranbir Kapoor’s towel sequence from Saawariyan . Word of advice: let’s leave that to the movie star.

The next episode will see the boys chosen by the girls (the ones who impressed them the most) fighting to be the King of Splitsvilla. Hopefully, we won’t see the men using their hips the next time.
