It’s episode 8 of Splitsvilla and the fight for the new king is just dragging on. When we last left this strange love-universe, Mayank Pawar (Mr Asia or Mr India or Mr Shirtless) and Shravan were engaged in a mud-pit battle. The duo are tied to each other. Shravan and Mr Shirtless’ small field of mud is surrounded by shields and whichever candidate breaks more shields from his rivals’ side, will win. Now it turns out that Mr Shirtless isin serious pain, thanks to his dislocated left shoulder. But, being a man’s man, he chooses to fight on. His expression at the (re)start of the battle would put an orc to shame. The fight drags on and on. This hardly feels like a ‘King’s Battle’. It’s more like a slow torture session. Then, Mayank turns aggressive and starts choking Shravan with a rope, which doesn’t quite work because of aforementioned shoulder. Clearly Mayank has dislocated his good sense along with his shoulder. Having survived the attempted choking, Shravan decides to counter by attacking Mayank’s shoulder. Thankfully, this puts an end to this miserable mud contest because Mayank can’t take the pain in his shoulder. Shravan would have us know that this was him being the lion king of Splitsvilla: “Jab sher shikhar pe nikalta hai, woh pehle shikaar ko thaakata hai.” Thaaka hua dialogue aside, even the audiences must have been tired watching this fight for two whole episodes. So that takes care of Mr Shirtless. Now Mayank Gandhi has to fight against Shravan and these two show how mud-wrestling can be a bonding exercise between two men. The way they lovingly roll around in the mud, you know that nobody is in the mood to actually fight. As Abhishek describes rather aptly Mayank Gandhi’s faux fight with Shravan was like, “Jaise do suar mitti main lotna pasand karte hain, it was like that”(it was like two watching two pigs who love to roll around in the muck). Apparently the two have some sort of ‘setting’ according to which Gandhi is supposed to “handle the villa”, according to the deal. What that means, no one knows. In the end Shravan still wins and continues to be king. [caption id=“attachment_1648859” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]

You know that because every one of her sentences is embellished with a couple of beeps. Mr Shirtless is among those who gets into an argument with her because she was the one who had egged Shravan to go for Mr Shirtless’ shoulder. After all this, the girls have to go to the dumping ground. But there’s a twist. Rishabh gets to save one, (he’s the dude who’s in-the-game but not-in-game) and interestingly he saves Priyanka not Unnati. Unnati is the girl who actually does have the hots for him. But there he is, selflessly helping Priyanka and Ayaz’s cause. Later, when explaining why he didn’t save her, he tells Unnati that she’s too sweet to be on the show. Wonder what that means. This week fat jokes make a comeback, with Palak complaining that with Shravan winning, ‘moti’ Jacqueline was still going to be in the running.
