With Luv Ranjan’s latest outing _Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety_' s soaring at the box-office, even the trade pundits are amazed. Who would have thought that a film starring (relative) newcomers would catch like a wildfire while films with major stars fail to make any impact (we’re looking at you, Aiyaary)? On crossing the Rs 50-crore mark director Luv Ranjan had said , “We always knew we were making a film that would appeal to the youth. Critics called the film anti-women, misogynistic. But that didn’t bother me. I was looking beyond the criticism. “For me, my actors Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha and Sunny Singh are stars. And beyond them, it’s the script that is the superstar,” added the Pyaar Ka Punchnama director. A new-age love triangle set in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is produced by T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Luv Films’ Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg. The film released on 23 February. Akshay Kumar’s Padman, dealing with the issue of menstrual hygiene in rural areas, hit the theatres on 9 February while Bhansali’s Padmaavat released earlier on 25 January.
