After Deepika Padukone and Fawad Khan, the ongoing India Couture Week 2016 saw another Bollywoood celebrity making an entry. On Friday, 22 July, fashionista Sonam Kapoor attended the Delhi event to support fashion designer Anamika Khanna’s show ‘When Time Stood Still’. Seated in the front row with mother Suneeta Kapoor, the Neerja actress was herself dressed in an Anamika creation – an embroidered beige saree gown. She even shared some pictures from her photo shoot at the event on her Instagram account.

On the show front Anamika Khanna impressed everyone with her new collection. The off-site show at the grand ballroom of The Leela Palace here on Friday, stood still for some time when models started walking on the runway in impressive ensembles like embellished lehengas having 3D flowers stitched to it, palazzos, sequined jackets, long trailed anarkali’s to pant sarees- all paired with statement jewellery pieces consisting of precious stones like emerald, diamonds and rubies with a gold base. Using fabrics like organza and georgette, Khanna’s collection used a myriad of hues such as white, beige, gold, salmon pink, celadon green, fiery red, black and yellow. The collection also saw a wide use of heavy embellishments, sequined work, hand weaves and intricate work of gold embroidery on the silhouettes. With popular numbers by legendary singers Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra playing and the runway decked up with trees and real live models - the show left the guests for wanting more. Asked about having real live models as decor, Khanna said: “Basically, the idea was that these people were at a party and the time just stood still”. With usage of the scores like “Cant help falling in love with you”, “Everybody hurts “, “Something supid” and “Its now or never”, the designer says she was just getting the “romance back”. The show also unveiled the collaboration between heritage jewellery house Amrapali Jaipur and the designer. Talking about the collaboration, Tarang Arora from Amrapali Jaipur told IANS: “We wanted to do something with fine jewllery and…I Personally I love what she does, so we didn’t think that their is anyone better to do a collaboration with than her.” The event saw many popular faces from the film and fashion industry like Pernia Qureshi and Manish Malhotra gracing the front row for the designers mesmerizing collection on the third day of the fashion gala. Other names from the Indian fashion fraternity like Varun Bahl, Gaurav Gupta and Manav Gangwani will showcase their latest collection at the five-day event, which concludes on 24 July. Connoisseur of luxury fashion wear Rohit Bal, who has been a part of the industry for over two decades and is popular for his lotus prints, will be drawing the curtains on the gala by showcasing his ensembles on Sunday with an off-site show at the newly-renovated Bikaner House here.
