Actors Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot in Mumbai on 23 June. But sadly they were brutally trolled for their inter-faith marriage.

Sonakshi Sinha & Zaheer Iqbal trolled for inter-faith marriage

Both Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal were happy and glowing with love. But there are always some people who are sadistic and can’t stand to see somebody happy. Some faceless trolls cropped up and kept abusing the couple for their inter-faith wedding.

This is not the first time that trollers have been abusive and toxic. Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal, Swara Bhasker and Fahad Ahmad were also trolled for their inter-faith marriage. My question is it was Sonakshi and Zaheer’s personal choice and who are these people having problems with their marriage? Do they even know the couple? Then why so much hate?

The couple chose a civil marriage ceremony over religious rituals. Sonakshi and Zaheer were in a relationship for seven years and finally they decided to get married. Some even went to the extent of criticising their wedding attire including the sarees Sonakshi wore for her wedding and pre-wedding functions. It is extremely depressing to see such trolls trying hard to pull down people on such happy occasions.

Zaheer’s father clearly told the media when asked whether Sonakshi will be converting to Islam, “She is not converting, and that is for sure. Theirs is a union of hearts, and religion has no role to play whatsoever. I believe in humanity. God is called Bhagwan by Hindus and Allah by Muslims. But at the end of the day, we are all human beings. My blessings are with Zaheer and Sonakshi.”

Some people even went to the extent of saying, “Nobody looks happy, except for Sonakshi Sinha.” Is this the level of venom people like to spread in the name of religion? Wonder who gives them the audacity to do so.

Shatrughan Sinha’s reaction to trolls

Sonakshi’s dad and actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha also slammed trolls and urged them to not spread the negativity. “Anand Bakshi saab has written about such professional protestors, ‘Kucch to log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna. To this I would like to add, ‘Kehne waale agar bekar, bekaam-kaaj ke ho to kehna hi kaam ban jata hai (For unemployed people, this is all the work they have).’ My daughter has done nothing illegal or unconstitutional,” said the Aan actor to Times Now.

He added, “A wedding is a very personal decision between two people; no one has the right to interfere or comment. To all the protestors I say – go, get a life. Do something useful with your life. Aur kucch nahi kehna (I have nothing else to say).”

Sonakshi Sinha gives a befitting reply to trolls

Prasad Bhat’s post of her and Zaheer, which talks about being ’love is the universal language’. Resharing that post on her Instagram Stories, Sonakshi worte, “Truest words!! This is adorable! Thank you.”

Richa Chadha too took to her Instagram stories while commending Sonakshi and Zaheer on not being affected by the social media negativity over their interfaith marriage.
