Long before the news frenzy around Salman Khan’s verdict in the 2002 hit-and-run case and much ahead of the video journalists and reporters could reach the Bombay High Court, Salman Khan’s sister Alvira Agnihotri was seen at the court starting the day off. Agnihotri has been present at every court hearing regarding this case, even at times when Khan himself has not been present. She was the one who rushed from the sessions court to the high court to file his bail application after the sessions court verdict pronounced him guilty with five years jail time. The same day, an emotional Agnihotri told a Mumbai Mirror reporter, “I had said so, I am taking my brother home.” She admits that it is her love for her brother and the fact that she clearly believes he is innocent and that drives her to be present at all points during this case. Apart from Agnihotri’s constant presence, Salman’s house has been buzzing with relatives and friends since the sessions court verdict in May 2015. She has also been attending some of the hearings of the black buck case, in Jodhpur, the verdict of which is expected next. There is little doubt that Agnihotri always stood rock solid behind the actor and remains the face of familial support in this turbulent year for Salman Khan.
