Sinister forces trying to sabotage 'Besharam': Abhinav Kashyap

Abhinav Kashyap probably envisioned himself to be to mass entertainment films what his brother Anurag Kashyap is to offbeat Bollywood cinema after his debut super hit Salman Khan starrer, Dabangg. But, with his latest film, Besharam — starring the Kapoor family, Rishi, Neetu and Ranbir Kapoor — he has been labelled trashy. As the Twitter hashtag #MoviesWorseThanBesharam went viral and his film was bludgeoned by critics, Kashyap defended his film and has now come out to say that there may be a ‘sinister plan’ to bash his film Besharam. In an interview with the Mumbai Mirror on Thursday afternoon, Kashyap said, “With whatever is happening around Besharam, I smell some kind of a sinister plan. Certain forces don’t want the film to succeed”. Pic: FB page[/caption] Defended the film he said that the English media was probably not able to accept Ranbir in the role of the character he is playing in the film, but that the audience is liking his film. “I have the first day numbers of the film which is the highest for both me and Ranbir. I really don’t understand why the English media and certain people with vested interest are panning the film. I think they are not able to accept Ranbir in the character he is playing,” he said to the newspaper. He also refuted rumours that Besharam star Ranbir Kapoor had cancelled his events for the day to avoid being grilled by the media. Read the full interview here.
