Shweta Nanda, Preity Zinta raise objections over obsessive media intrusion

Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter Shweta Nanda joins a long list of celebs who have expressed their annoyance over paparazzi attention on their and their children’s lives. In a column titled ‘A Mother’s Request’ in DNA she slams the media for using click-bait headlines to draw attention to her daughter Navya Naveli Nanda’s life. Nor, might I add, do they have her permission to post her private pictures. She is not a public figure. Yes, she is related to some very famous people, but that is something completely out of her control,” Swetha writes in the letter. She questions why her daughter who enjoys life like every other teenager is seen in a different way just because she comes from a Bollywood family. All Of Navya Nanda’s social media accounts are private and she is not on Twitter. Yet she already enjoys celebrity status on social media with many fan pages on Twitter and Instagram. The troubled mother goes on to vent her helplessness in protecting her child from the world’s prying eyes. She speaks about the effect that the comments that judge her and call her names can harm her self-esteem. Earlier in the day Preity Zinta also took to Twitter to talk about media attention. She says she does not like the way photographers pounce on her to take pictures as it makes the actress uncomfortable. The 41-year-old star slammed the increasing paparazzi culture in the country, saying these days no one politely asks for a photograph.

Stepping out in Mumbai is not fun anymore; photographers just pounce on U ! No one politely asks 4 a photo anymore. They actually scare u🙈

— Preity G Zinta (@realpreityzinta) October 10, 2016

Ok maybe it's silly to ask4 privacy - but what about etiquette & being polite ? Sure there is a polite way 2ask 4a photo instead of DHAVAA 🙈

Gotta run now, but before that I wud like 2tell everyone (specially the photographers with big flashes ) that lurk in the dark a few things.

1) Please don't jump on us or PUSH our PARENTS or KIDS or friends n family for a photo. ASK POLITELY or U will NEVER get a proper photo !

— Preity G Zinta (@realpreityzinta) October 10, 2016

She further said that photographers should not “make news” saying that stars misbehaved with them, because if their bodyguards push lensmen, they have a valid reason.

2) If a star's security pushes you there is a GOODENOUGH Reason that U deserved it so stop making news about how badly behaved we are 🙏 Pls

3) If I don't want to be photographed I will hide my face. Not cuz I have had bad surgery, or have no make up or whatever - It just means NO

— Preity G Zinta (@realpreityzinta) October 10, 2016

4) It's my face, my life and my choice ! If I'm dying to be photographed I will post it on twitter or Instagram so pls be polite or OK BYE🙏

— Preity G Zinta (@realpreityzinta) October 10, 2016

Preity was quick to take on body shamers, writing,

5) Next time U take my picture don't look for body parts you can circle or put in a loop later on to body shame me & make money for you 🙏

6) You & Me - we both have to live here. If you are more considerate & decent you will probably get great images & 🙏LEAVE THE KIDS alone.
