Shubh Mangal Saavdhan: All the details about Ayushmann, Bhumi Pednekar upcoming film

We saw them together in their first joint venture, Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015), and we fell in love with this on-screen pair. The duo — Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar are all set to spell magic again in their upcoming film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan presented by Aanand L Rai.

The makers of the film, Eros International, launched an audio trailer announcement of the film on Twitter on 26 July. The 41-second-long video gives a sneak peek into the film's premise which revolves around a 'not-so-hot' girl, Sugandha (played by Pednekar) and a 'not-so-cool' guy, Mudit (played by Khurrana).

The video also takes a polite jibe on the obsession of people with hot girls — aided with caricatures of 'Kaala Chashma' Katrina Kaif, Marilyn Monroe and Madonna, and cool guys — '8-pack-abs' Hrithik Roshan, James Dean and James Bond.

The lead characters are presented to be an unusual couple in the usual semi-urban Indian context, much like their previous venture Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Just that, unlike the previous film, the oddity here is of the character and not of the size.

In an earlier report, Firstpost had said that Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is the Hindi remake of Tamil film Kalyana Samayal Sadham. Talking to Deccan Chronicle, Prasanna said, "I wouldn't say it is a complete remake of KSS. It is an entirely new film with the same basic theme and soul. 'Spiritual remake' is the correct word for it."

In the film, Pednekar and Khurrana will feature as a married couple who have to come to terms with the latter's erectile dysfunction.

Khurrana is also going to feature along with Kriti Sanon and Rajkummar Rao in Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's romcom Bareilly Ki Barfi, while Pednekar is all set to be seen opposite Akshay Kumar in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. Both these films are going to release this year.

The announcement video also revealed the date of the trailer launch and that is slated to happen on 1 August. The film releases on 1 September.
