Shilpa Shetty Kundra, family sued by automobile agency proprietor over alleged non-payment of dues
Shilpa Shetty Kundra, her sister Shamita Shetty and their mother Sunanda are being dragged to court by a proprietor of an automobile agency over alleged non-payment of dues.
According to Mid-Day, the proprietor, Parhad Amra, has claimed that Shilpa’s late father Surendra Shetty has taken a loan amounting to Rs 21 lakh, which he was supposed to return with interest in January 2017. Shilpa's family has denied all allegations and will attend the hearing for the same on 29 January at Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
Speaking on the issue, Shilpa told Mid-Day that she was never involved in her father's business, and was not aware of any transactions between her father and Parhad. She told the daily, "I have never had any involvement in my late father's business, and have no knowledge at all of the financial dealings of the company. This gentleman is misleading the media. I knew him in the capacity of our family car mechanic, that's all."
The publication, which obtained a copy of Parhad's complaint, states that he shared a cordial relationship with Surendra and had lent Rs 21 lakh in July 2015 in three instalments to aid Shetty in his business. As per their agreement, Shetty was supposed to pay back the money with an interest on 18 percent.
Parhad further claims that he was informed that Sunanda and his two daughters were his partners at the firm and were aware of this business transaction. However, Surendra passed away after a few months of the transaction in October 2016. Following his death, Parhad alleged that Shilpa and her family denied that the loan was ever advanced, and refused to repay the amount.
