Shanthanu debuted as a child artist in his dad Bhagyaraj’s 1998 Tamil film Vaettiya Madichu Kattu  and earned a lot of positive reviews for his cute performance.

Shanthanu also had a proper heroic launch in 2008 with Sakkarakati. Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu of Kabali and Theri-fame, Academy Award-winning AR Rahman had scored the music for Sakkarakati and all the songs were big hits but the film wasn’t a box office success. Later, Bhagyaraj himself directed a film titled Siddu+2 for Shanthanu but it failed to mint money.

Though industry people feel that Shanthanu is talented, the actor is yet to deliver his first proper hit. But now, things look positive for the actor. Ever since Shanthanu posted a picture with maverick filmmaker Mysskin and PC Sreeram on Twitter, wishes are pouring in for the actor. “It all started when Mysskin sir told me that I look smart and matured at a film event recently. He also said 'We should work soon'," says Shanthanu to Firstpost.

Three days later, Mysskin and Shanthanu’s friend Ravindar of Suttakathai-fame discussed a possible collaboration. “It was Ravindar who asked whether I would be apt for the lead role and within a few seconds, Mysskin told him that this is the most humane thing he did. Mysskin told Ravindar that the boy (Shanthanu) is an underdog and deserves a break," adds the actor.

Even ace cinematographer PC Sreeram, who is going to handle the camera for the film, was in full praise for Shanthanu. “When Ravindar and Mysskin suggested my name to PC Sreeram sir, he told them that I’m the apt choice for the role. I think all the good hearts have come together for this film. A lot of people have been praying for my success and those prayers only gave me this opportunity to collaborate with such big names," says Shanthanu.

Shanthanu is thrilled to work with Mysskin and PC Sreeram .“Every actor would be waiting to get a call from a nice, well renowned good technician like Mysskin sir. For an actor like me, who has been struggling for a decade to get an identity, it was a sweet surprise. I’m thankful to Mysskin sir for this opportunity”.

“PC Sreeram advised me to not trim my beard and change the hairstyle. Sreeram sir told to continue growing beard and he would suggest me a look during the shoot”, says an excited Shanthanu, who also got blessings from his dad Bhagyaraj, a legendary director and scriptwriter in his own right.

“I still remember the day when Mysskin sir screened his debut film Chithiram Pesuthadi to my dad and I was also present to watch the show. Recently, dad worked with Mysskin sir in Thupparivaalan. Appa told me to surrender myself to Mysskin. He is positive that this film will be a big turning point in my career," exclaims the actor, who says that they have not made any official announcement on the technicians and other details of the film because of the ongoing strike of TFPC.

However, the film’s producer Ravindar has optimistically shared on his Facebook page that he would only get ‘A’ certificate from the censor board for Mysskin’s horror thriller. The hot buzz in the industry is that the team is in talks with Nithya Menen and Sai Pallavi to play the female lead in the film.
