Shahid Kapoor has been a part of the Bollywood industry for over 20 years. There have been many ups and downs he has faced as an actor and on Neha Dhupia’s show No Filter Neha recently, he got candid that the Hindi film industry is just like a school that doesn’t accept an outsider easily.

Kapoor revealed, “When I came into the industry, I realised this is also like a school. Bahar waale ko aasani se accept nahi karte ye log, inko bada problem hota hai ke tum aa kaise gaye ander. (They don’t accept anyone from outside easily. They have a problem that how you enter into the industry). So for many years you deal with that.”

The actor added, “I don’t like this campy thing. I feel that people who want to creatively collaborate with each other, should. People are comfortable with each other, should. But that doesn’t mean you diss other people or put other people down or you close the doors to other people. And I think that that’s something which does happen in this fraternity. I hate being bullied, and I didn’t have the confidence as a kid, as a teenager and a young adult.”

On quitting smoking

Kapoor recalled how he used to hide from his daughter for smoking; however, later decided to give up his habit for Misha.

“When I used to smoke, I would hide from my daughter and do it. That is actually the reason I gave it up. One day when I was hiding and having my smoke, I told myself that I was not going to do this forever. That was the day when I finally decided to quit smoking,” he said.
