Chic, cringe-worthy or cool.

Bow-ties, suspenders, waistcoats.

From tacky shoulder-pads to flawlessly fitting suits, we have chronicled it all. And everyone is entitled to our opinion.

Today, Digging deep into our archives, we bring you the fashion evolution of — Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan a.k.a the 'Baadshah of Bollywood' has evolved by leaps and bounds over the years.

From his 1992 Deewana days right upto his 2017 Jab Harry Met Sejal days, Khan's style has undergone a massive change; one that is hard to miss.

Some of his earliest red carpet appearances saw Khan sporting various accessories circa Josh era. He exuded a slightly unkempt, wild look, and it is then and there that he had the women swooning. Bordering on the edge of bad*ss, Khan was into loose suits, flamboyant shirts and accessorising. Lots. Of. Accessorising.

SRK is also one of the few actors who experiments as much with his looks as he does with his clothes.

We've seen the long-haired ponytail Khan (above) and we've seen the short-haired one. His Don days saw Khan stepping out in all kinds of looks, with massive changes to his appearance. Long trench-coats, and even longer ponytails, were SRK's poison in those days.

When he's not on the red carpet, Khan likes to be more subdued and casual.

Going for straight, clean looks, the Om Shanti Om actor prefers to 'keep it simple silly'.

Plain white shirt are a staple in Khan's cupboard, and he doesn't shy away from pulling them out for any and every occasion (and why should he, when he looks like that wearing one?)

There has been more than one time that SRK has grown his hair out long, and every time it has worked its magic on women and men alike, creating entire fashion trends in those years. Somewhere around 2011 was also when Khan realised that one is not meant to float in their suits and got himself a tailor.

Finally, we saw SRK's suit's shoulder seam sitting at his shoulder. This was also the time that Khan started experimenting with accessorising his outfits again — but this time with mature accessories (bowties, suspenders) which exuded chic metro-sexuality.

Evolving his fashion sense by miles, Shah Rukh Khan also started donning sharp-cut waistcoats and added the bandgala/sherwani look to his wardrobe — a fashion leap from which there was no coming back.

It was around 2014-2015 that we really saw well-fitted, custom made suits (actually looking like they had been custom made!) adorning SRK's (too-fit-for-a-49-year-old) physique. Gone were the (slightly) sloppy red carpet appearances and in their place came the man who will be looked at as a style icon for decades to come.

Fine, we'll admit it. We have a special spot for short-haired SRK. Not only did this hairstyle make him look younger, but it gave him the sort of boyish charm that he used to exude during his Kuch Kuch Hota Hai days. And which self-respecting ardent Bollywood fan can resist that!?

Coloured-velvet coats also made a short special appearance in SRK's illustrious career a la Salman Khan. It seems like once the Badshah rekindled his friendship with Bhai, not only did they encourage and promote each other's work, but they also went through a little stroll in each other's closets and did a little beg, borrow, stealing.

We aren't complaining though. If there's someone who can pull off colourful coats with such ease and panache it's Shah Rukh Khan (and Ranveer Singh, hehe).

2016 SRK is all sorts of cool. We can finally see his fashion style settle down and place itself somewhere in between the pillars of maturity and classic manhood. Gone are the days of accessorising and experimenting. What emerges is a clean-cut Shah Rukh Khan. One that still has all the ladies (and men) swooning.

Keeping on the same trajectory as 2016, Khan is currently seen carrying on similar styles on the red carpet. The one thing that's changed though? We now see SRK daring to be different and experiment, not straying too far from the classic, preppy looking, but venturing out just far enough to add a splash of colour here, and a bowtie/waistcoat there.

Shah Rukh's style has changed over the last couple of few decades and how. We now see a man of style and class — someone who is able to carry off any outfit with ease. At 52, SRK sure doesn't look like it one bit.
