Shah Rukh Khan to host 'Ted Talks India: Nayi Soch'; show will go on air this summer
The eloquence of Shah Rukh Khan is no mystery. His quick wit in interviews and press conferences, profound tweets and well-documented speeches in multiple esteemed universities is common knowledge. Now, he has announced his association with the global giant TED (Technology Entertainment and Design).
No, he has not been invited as a speaker to a TEDx event but has been signed as the host of Ted Talks India - Nayi Soch. This television series will mark the first time TED will collaborate with a major network, Star India, and a superstar, SRK to produce a TV series featuring original TED talks in Hindi, as stated by a press release of Star India.
Khan was previously associated with Star Plus in the capacity of the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati 3, 10 years ago. Now, he has joined forces with the channel yet again as he feels that media is the most effective instrument of change.
"I am looking forward to working with TED and Star India, and truly hope that together, we are able to inspire young minds across India and the world," said SRK.
TED Talks - Nayi Soch will follow the signature TED format of prominent speakers voicing their opinions in an 18-minute or less monologue in front of a live audience. While the speakers and the exact date of the launch is kept under wraps, it is expected to go on air this summer.
Star India was lauded for its contribution to societal awakening, courtesy its show Satyamev Jayate, hosted by Aamir Khan. Now, it is set to explore other pastures through an Indian version of Ted Talks.
TED curator Chris Anderson's statement states, "The country (India) is teeming with imagination and innovation, and we believe this series will tap into that spirit and bring insight and inspiration to many new minds. We’ve been so impressed by the passion of our partners at Star TV and our host Shah Rukh Khan. We cannot wait for the launch.”
