In a series of media interviews on 2 November, (his 50th birthday), Shah Rukh Khan had accepted the growing intolerance in the nation, and admitted that he would return his award as a symbolic gesture. We keep talking about new India, but if this country is not secular, happy in its approach and allowing people to be… the youngsters are not going to stand for it. It’s stupid to be intolerant,” said Shah Rukh Khan at the Twitter town hall hosted by Rajdeep Sardesai, India Today had reported. In retaliation, Kailash Vijaybargiya, a senior BJP leader from Madhya Pradesh, called Shah Rukh Khan anti-national and that was followed by Sadhvi Prachi equating him with the alleged 26/11 mastermind.
