Scottish actor Brian Cox says 'They don't like women in America': 'Look what happened to Hillary Clinton'

Scottish actor Brian Cox has made some shocking revelations about America in his recent interview with Variety. He opened up about the patriarchal mindset of the state and was quoted saying, “They won’t let a woman be president, not in the foreseeable future. Look what happened to Hillary Clinton.”

He added, “The patriarchy is so invasive and so insidious, it’s hard to throw it off. I think the patriarchy is a fucking mess, and it’s the patriarchy that got us into the position that we’re in at the moment, and we don’t learn the lessons. I say, give it over to the women.”

“I’m more egalitarian than a lot of directors, the kind who call themselves visionaries,” Cox said about his own directing style. “I like to honor the actor’s performance. With a Quentin Tarantino film, what you see is all Quentin Tarantino. That’s not me. I don’t want to do that.”

Finishing a book is usually cause for celebration. Not for actor Brian Cox. The book in question, Putting the Rabbit in the Hat, which was out in 2022, chronicles the actor’s journey from humble beginnings in Dundee, Scotland, to being the toast of Hollywood, thanks to his Emmy nominated role in hit drama Succession .

He said completing the book caused him to sink into a depression over the Christmas and New Year period, adding that he hopes it “hasn’t put a full stop” on his life. “I was feeling, ‘Is that all there is? That’s the summation of my life?’ I don’t want it to be the summation of my life.

I wanted it to be an illustration of where my life had gone to,” said Cox, adding, “I’m sure there’s more.” Despite his concerns, the veteran actor found the experience “liberating and cathartic,” allowing him to honour his late parents, who Cox describes as “two very tragic figures in my life.”
