Veteran actor Satish Shah, known, passed away at the age of 74 due to kidney failure. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit shared the news of Shah’s passing away on Instagram as he wrote, “Sad and shocked to inform you that our dear friend and a great actor Satish Shah has expired few hours ago due to kidney failure. He was rushed to Hinduja hospital where he breathed his last. A great loss to our industry . Om Shanti.”
Speaking to News18, Shah’s close friend and veteran actor Sachin Pilgaonkar also remembered him and revealed some details about his health and wife. Pilgaonkar was quoted saying, ““Unfortunately, even Madhu isn’t well. She has Alzheimer’s. This year, Satish got his kidney transplanted. He wanted to extend his wife so that he could take care of Madhu. He was on dialysis. Earlier, he underwent a bypass surgery, which was successful.”
The _Sholay_ actor added, “In fact, I received a message from him at 12:56 pm today, which means that he was absolutely fine even at that time. That I’m in shock is an understatement. Industry ka loss toh hua hi aur woh baat alag hai (It’s not only industry’s loss), it’s a very, very big personal loss to me.”
In an interview with Komal Nahta a few years back, the late actor spoke about how he didn’t feel he was good looking during his struggling days in the industry. “When I would say that I have come from the institute, I would get a bit of respect, but that’s about it. There was no other advantage whatsoever,” Shah said.
The actor added, “It was a time when actors would be selected after their black and white pictures were seen, and that wouldn’t work for me as I was not that good looking. They wouldn’t think that I am the new Shammi Kapoor, and I was aware of it. I had not come to become a hero.”
