Kakar took to her Instagram profile to share the news with her follower in a surprise announcement. She captioned the photograph of the film's poster "What better could I ask for than being a part of a #JPDuttaFilm as my first one!! Such an honour to join the #Paltan"

Esha Gupta and Monica Gill are the other two leading ladies of Dutta's film. Gupta will be essaying the role of Arjun Rampal's wife whereas Gill will be portraying Rane's love interest. Kakar's role in the movie is yet to be disclosed.

Unlike Dutta's other war films LOC Kargil and Border, Paltan is a film that is based on the personal bonds and relationships that are formed within the same regiment and the involvement of families of army personnel.

In a previous report, JP Dutta said, "The emotions we are dealing with here are more complex and varied. It’s about the relationship the soldiers leave behind and how it affects the families. Border dealt with the soldiers’ love interests, but Paltan will also showcase their siblings and parents. It will also display the soldiers’ brotherhood, as they save each other when at war," according to a Times Now News report.
