Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai Take 2 to go on air from 16 May; touted as fine blend of clean, crazy comedy

The first half of the one-minute promo of Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai Take 2 leaves the viewers scratching their heads as almost every member of the Sarabhai family is seen rubbing one object or the other. Indravardhan Sarabhai, played by Satish Shah, rubs an apple; Maya Sarabhai, played by Rathna Pathak Shah, rubs her sunglasses; Rosesh, played by Rajesh Kumar, rubs the life size portrait of her ‘Momma’ and Madhu Sudhan rubs an audio player. Monisha, in typical fashion, accidentally ends up rubbing and spoiling Maya’s portrait. While rubbing is used as the common ground to bring out their respective quirks, Sahil Sarabhai explains that there is more to it. He refers to their upcoming web series as ‘clean’ comedy, clarifying that though Take 2 of the popular sitcom will appear in the digital space than on the television screens, it will continue to be as clean and fit for the consumption of families as it was in its first season. Maya, who looks glamorous in Rathna Pathak Shah’s look from Shashanka Ghosh’s 2014 film Khoobsurat, adds that the web series will also have its share of ‘crazy comedy’. This clarifies that though the humour will not be dirty, it will not be as niche as a satire either. It will tread on the fine line between clean and crazy comedy and thus come across as almost everyone’s cup of tea, the same quality that lent it a cult status initially. Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai Take 2 will go on air from 16 May on Hotstar. In its last promo, the Sarabhai family had asked the audience for suggestions for the title of the second season. While it received thousands of suggestions in the form of comments, the makers have finalised Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai Take 2 as the final title of the second season of the popular sitcom.
