After an impressive debut in Kedarnath , followed by Simmba , Sara Ali Khan will reportedly share screen space with Varun Dhawan in the remake of Coolie No 1. The film, originally starred Govinda and Karisma Kapoor.

A source told DNA that the remake will be helmed by David Dhawan, who also directed the 1995 feature. It will also be the first film rolled out by Varun and David’s home production, The One Entertainment. They wanted a new onscreen couple and decided that Sara would be apt for the role.

Furthermore, DNA writes that Coolie No 1 was offered to Sara even before her debut. “They were in talks for some time and had approached her even before Kedarnath hit the marquee. The idea is to adapt the original and modernise it. The 23-year-old will step into Karisma’s shoes, but the makers are changing the character sketch a bit and making it even more prominent in the remake,” said the source.

Besides, Coolie No 1, Sara will reportedly also be seen opposite Kartik Aaryan in Imitiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal 2.

Varun on the other hand has almost finished filming Kalank and will begin work on Remo D’Souza’s upcoming dance film alongside Shraddha Kapoor and Nora Fatehi. The source says that the actor will wrap up the film in April and then kick start the shooting of Coolie No 1. Both the actors bulk dates have been locked.
