Sara Ali Khan is gearing up for Ae Watan Mere Watan that will stream on Amazon Prime Video from March 21. In an interview with ETimes, she spoke about the influence women have had on her life and how it has to do with her single mother and actress Amrita Singh.

Khan said, “I think living with a single mother has a huge role to play in it. At a very early age, I realised koi aapke liye kuchh karne nahi wala (nobody is going to do anything for you). It’s not that I don’t get help, I do. But ultimately, you are the mover and initiator of your life.”

The actress added, “If you are lucky, stars align and God wills, then it will happen. You can’t be waiting around for things to happen, it doesn’t work like that.”

Ae Watan Mere Watan is all set to release on Amazon Prime Video IN on March 21. She plays freedom fighter Usha Mehta who retaliated against the British Rule during the 1942 Quit India Movement by opening an underground radio station. She used her voice as a tool that later became a threat to the British Raj.

Sara in Ae Watan Mere Wata _n_ will be seen playing a strong character who stood for the freedom of India with a new approach. The trailer is proof that, it’s going to be a film that will give this talented actress a shade of her education to relish in her profession. That is the reason she is able to develop a personal connection with the character. She was very keen on playing this part in Ae Watan Mere Watan as the story of the film is based on the Indian history that Sara has always been a student of.

Directed by Kannan Iyer, the film has been written by Iyer and Darab Farooqui. The movie features actor Sara Ali Khan in the lead alongside Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, Alexx O’ Nell and Anand Tiwari in pivotal roles and a special guest appearance by Emraan Hashmi.   Ae Watan Mere Watan  is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video in India and across more than 240 countries and territories worldwide on March 21 in Hindi with dubs in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
