Sanya Malhotra is gearing up for her next film ‘Mrs’. It is a Hindi remake of the Malayalam film ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’. The actress will be seen in the role of a young dancer who is married into a typical family, still ruled by patriarchal ideas. Sanya’s Richa will be seen struggling to meet her in-laws’ expectations while also pursuing her dreams. The teaser of the film ‘Mrs’ was released on Wednesday giving a glimpse into the story of Richa, with fans dropping divided reactions on social media. While many lauded Sanya’s performance, a few seemed unhappy with the idea of remaking the original Malayalam film. The film will have its World Premiere at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival on 17 November. The film’s powerful narrative has also been selected under the Critics’ Pick Competition category at the film festival, the post added. “All set to inspire, move and spark conversations about the challenges & triumphs faced by women globally at the world stage!” the post read.

However, as soon as she enters the house, she can be seen carrying all the responsibilities which include preparing new dishes as asked by her father-in-law (played by Kanwaljit Singh). From preparing fresh meals thrice a day to keeping up with the demands of her family, especially her father-in-law and her husband, Richa is shown juggling between the kitchen and the patriotic expectations of the household. There is also a moment where she rebels against her husband (played by Nishant Dahiya) who asks her to “follow the rules of the house.” She can be seen asking him, “Kya kar loge? (What will you do?)” Directed by Arati Kadav, the film titled ‘Mrs’ is the Hindi remake of Jeo Baby’s Malayalam film _The Great Indian Kitchen_ . The Malayalam original starred actress Nimisha Sajayan in the lead role.
